Triathlon #RealTalk

OK, you want some real talk? Here’s an excerpt from a long angry and rambling and tired email I sent Hillary today — in which the “you” is not, obviously, her, but the general triathlete “you.” Because I am tired and vaguely angry and tired.

  1. PREACH. I mean, I cook so I have things to eat but it ain’t no GD hobby! If I see one more “cooking and proportioning for the week” with your (not YOU) perfect, matching tupperware picture I’m going to post ten more pictures of my reused takeout containers with some pasta and sad, frozen-turned-microwaved broccoli with grated cheese, if I’m lucky.

  2. This reminds me of an article I read a few months back by some elite athlete responding to every day recreational schmucks continually asking, “But how do you balance all your training and life and family??? Tell us your secrets!!!” And she was like, “Uhhhh you don’t, unless you want to get beaten by other people who don’t.”

  3. Ha ha ha – that made me laugh. Hard. I’ll read it again when I’m eating dinner at 9pm tonight, after getting up at 5 to swim before work, and then having to get more training in after work, which is why I’ll be eating at 9. And I’ll be grumpy because I have to get up at 5 again the next day. And super glad I got a guitar for my birthday a couple of years ago, because of course I haven’t touched it yet.
