OMG, I just now finished reading that article. It’s very well written, and mirrors what I’ve been fearing. Hopefully this attitude won’t bleed over to trail and ultra races but I’m afraid that it might. Can’t image spending $900 for an Ironman race. Heck, I don’t even think my old car is worth that much.
Pretty sad state of affairs. I stopped doing half and full distances a couple years ago and stuff like this helps me not miss them. Also, you’d think that the editors might have picked an image that was…well, from any of the non-Ironman races they were discussing.
