- The winners both overcame some historic deficits after the swim and bike to take the titles.
- 32 of the 36 pro women who started finished; 36 of the 53 pro men finished.
- Apolo Ohno’s 9:52 was crazy good. Who expected that? (Steve says he expected it.)
- This time lapse video of the swim start is kind of funny.
- Following the race on Twitter at a wedding in the Eastern time zone is not easy.
Now I’m super curious about Steve’s Apolo Ohno reasoning. I mean I know he’s a super impressive athlete, but I would not have thought that his particular talents would necessarily translate to a none-too-shabby Ironman. You should make him do a guest post.
That’s what I thought too. I was like ‘well, if he’d been a longtrack skater, maybe.’ But, Steve is maintaing that he had to at least put in some volume training for his races, so he knows how to and has some athletic base on which to build.
I should totally make him write a guest post though.
Great facts! Crazy how many more men DNFed than women.
Great stats – I’m looking this up! I still need to watch the highlights!!
