Hangry: A Word That Needs to Die Now

han•gry adjective

1. feeling or showing anger coming from a state of hunger

2. a. a slang term used primarily by women, typically to excuse behavior that may be seen as opinionated, angry or unfeminine by others

b. a way to invalidate and minimize one’s own feelings and opinions as a passing hunger-induced fancy

3. an overly-cute, annoying word that needs to go away

EXAMPLES

Isn’t Teddy so nice for putting up with me when I’m being so hangry. He fed me and then I stopped being snappy with him!

After my run, I was so hangry I almost could have eaten a whole burger.

Don’t mind anything that comes out of my mouth until after I eat, I just can’t control myself because I’m a woman and I am so hangry.
