This morning I DNS’d (Did Not Start) the Tiburon Triathlon. I can’t remember the last time I just didn’t even make it to the start line. I can remember quite a few times, though, that I started races when I really didn’t want to and ended up on the side of the road sobbing. So.

The Tiburon Tri is a small local sprint. It’s usually fun. But, it just didn’t sound fun, so I didn’t do it.

I’m too tired. So tired. Very very tired. I ran for 9 miles easy yesterday and then had to go take a nap. I got up and had dinner and then wanted to take another nap. Clearly the combination of work + commute taking 12 hours a day (plus whatever other hours of extra freelance work I have to do) and trying to start training again has been too much. I was planning to have a very easy next few days, but that just got moved up a few days.

I suppose it’s a long view of things. If I want to remember how to swim in time for the Pacific Grove Triathlon in six weeks, I need to rest and swim right now. Rest first.
