As you’ve probably gathered, I mysteriously hurt my foot. I did a short, fast, hard track workout on Wednesday afternoon (and I did it successfully I might add – but I won’t tell you what I ran since I don’t want to give away the secrets, obviously). And, while I ran, it felt like my shoe was pinching at the base of my big toe. No big deal. But, by the time I went to jog home — and away from the high school kids judging me — it hurt so much with each step that I had to walk.
It’s stayed slightly sore and tender to the touch the last two days, during which I haven’t run, obviously. In my infinite wisdom I have concluded it is either: 1. a bone bruise or 2. an inflamed/pinched tendon or 3. the beginnings of stress fracture. Hoping for #1 or #2!
The only problem is I am, currently, on my way to Los Angeles, where I’m suppose to run a large part of the LA Marathon with a friend. My best friend from high school is running the marathon on Sunday morning and I’ve been sort of giving her coaching direction and advice. However, my coaching advice is terrible, evidently, because she’s had IT band/tightness problems for the last three weeks and hasn’t been able to run at all.
And, I don’t think I’m really going to be able to run either.
That means the whole she runs the marathon and I run like two-thirds of it with her thing may not work so well. Of course, her physical therapist told her just to think positive and it should be fine. So, there you go. Advice for the day.
