Friday afternoon Steve and I took a ‘flying lesson,’ which was really more a demo flight where they let Steve hold the controls. He actually got to do a disturbing amount of flying, telling the tower we were ready to take-off and turning the plane different directions. With the computer systems inside, it’s a bit like playing a video game — so I was told, since I don’t actually play video games — though I sincerely hope the Garmin GPS running the plane is more accurate than the one I have for training.
There’s some sort of metaphor here about looking at things from a new perspective, gaining distance, etc – which can probably be applied to life or sports – but I don’t really feel like making it. (There’s probably also something to be said about the surprising lack of organization in the air. It all depends on someone somewhere paying attention and doing the right thing. You’d like to think there was more of a system than people talking into the radio about which island they think something is flying over, but there’s not.) So, instead, pretty pictures, which weren’t edited at all because I have a Dell and it is not immediately obvious how to edit photos on the shitty Dell:

Why is it iconic and touristy?! Uh, cause it was the longest span in the world for almost 30 years. That was ~80 years ago. And cause the orange is cool.
I never really pictured your guys house looking like that. 😉
